Dusseldorf Germany Visit
The Industrialists have become our new ambassador. The goodwill and the honour they are generating in the foreign lands are tremendous and sometimes overwhelming.
Just last week, I participated in an engineering review meeting for setting up a steel making shop for the ongoing project of Bhushan Group at Meramandali, Orissa near Nalco, Angul site.
MECON is the engineering consultant; SMS Demag Germany and SMS Demag India are equipment suppliers to the project.
The meeting was presided over by the Chairman, MD & VPs of Bhushan group.
When we reached SMS Demag office, The Indian Flag was standing tall along with German Flag fluttering sideways. The site of Tiranga filled my heart with pride and it gave me lot of confidence for the next grueling meeting with tough talking German Engineers. This meeting was 3rd in the series. Two had already been over in Delhi.
But to my utter surprise, we managed to convince them for our proposal and for adoption of our new layout, it was accepted very happily after next 2 days of arguments.
Next I saluted the Tiranga and left for India thinking about the great hospitality of SMS Demag people, the simple, neat and clean lifestyle of Germans, widespread application of stainless steel in building cladding, use of fibre reinforced glass for walling, polycarbonate sheets for roofing, little SMART cars smaller than Maruti-800 and even smaller than our much touted and now in troubled water – TATA-NANO.
